How to Use This Tool

Step 1: Prepare Your Data

Create a Google Sheet with your data in the following format:

A	B	C
Item Name	Value (1-5)	Risk (1-6)
Product Alpha	4	2
Service Beta	2	5
Initiative Gamma	5	1
Project Delta	1	4

You can copy and paste this example into your Google Sheet to get started.

Step 2: Create a Google Slides Presentation

Create a new Google Slides presentation
Make sure you have at least one slide (this will be used for the quadrant)
Note: The script will clear the first slide and create the quadrant there

Step 3: Get Your Sheet ID

Copy the Sheet ID from your Google Sheets URL:

The Sheet ID is the long string between "/d/" and "/edit" in the URL.

Step 4: Create Google Apps Script in Slides

In your Google Slides presentation, go to Extensions → Apps Script
Delete any existing code in the editor
Click the "Generate Script" button above and copy the generated code
Paste the code into the Apps Script editor
Save the project (Ctrl+S or Cmd+S)

Step 5: Run the Script

In the Apps Script editor, select the function drawMagicQuadrant from the dropdown
Click the "Run" button (play icon)
Grant permissions when prompted
The script will clear the first slide and create your Magic Quadrant there

Tips

Customise the quadrant labels and colours using the configuration panel
Value typically ranges from 1-5, Risk from 1-6 (but you can adjust as needed)
The script includes fallback sample data if your sheet can't be accessed
The script will clear and use the first slide in your presentation
You can run the script multiple times to update the quadrant with new data
Create the Apps Script directly in Google Slides for the best experience
